Writings

I love to write… most of the time. It helps me think through ideas, plan, and communicate what is going on in my brain. In fact when I was in high school my Dad said; “learn to write now because you will be writing for the rest of your life.” He was right, and I wish now that I would have learned the finer points of grammar, punctuation and sentence structure.

I started writing when I got into college. I think the first major paper I wrote had to do with revival and God’s work among young adults. I spent hours on my old clunky laptop computer. I was in a zone; writing hour after hour. God was teaching me new things and a loved capturing it one sentence at a time.

I had such limited access to a printer that I shrunk the whole document to 9 point font with narrow margins. Even then it was 16 pages long.

Below I have distinguished between some of my earlier writings and some of my more recent works. I have done this because of my own personal growth. I have grown to be less opinionated and have learned how damaging strong opinions can be. But at the same time I like being transparent for my students and fellow faculty members. I think it is important for those I lead to be able to see some of my early thoughts and see how some of those concepts have changed or been repackaged.
